The Catholic Church of the City of Zug becomes an Official Partner of the Special Olympics National Summer Games Zug 2026 and is providing around 200 overnight accommodation places for athletes and their accompanying persons.
“The Special Olympics stand for values that are also central to us: community and participation, sportsmanship, joy of life, inclusion and respect,” says Patrice Riedo, President of the Church Council. “They bring people together and impressively show what is possible when diversity is understood as a strength.”
For accommodation, the Church is using the parish centres St. Johannes, Gut Hirt and St. Michael. “The effort involved is not insignificant,” emphasises Church Council member Stefan Hegglin, “but together we have pulled out all the stops to support this outstanding event. For us, it goes without saying that we contribute to the success of the Games.”
Zug2026 extends its sincere thanks to the Catholic Church of the City of Zug for its strong commitment and the provision of numerous accommodation places. Through its contribution, the Church plays an important role in the success of the Games and sends a clear signal for inclusion at the heart of society.
