Zug, May 1, 2024 - The Special Olympics Switzerland Summer and Winter Games will alternate every two years. A spectacle with top athletic performances, a great deal of passion for sport, and, of course, a good mood. The members of the organizing committee for the Zug 2026 National Summer Games are also looking forward to this. Fifteen sports plus one demonstration sport are planned for the Zug, Baar, Sihlbrugg, and Holzhäusern regions. The opening ceremony will take place in the Bossard Arena in Zug to honor the athletes' achievements. During the Zug 2026 National Summer Games, there will also be an Olympic Village and a closing ceremony on the Arenaplatz, where the public can enjoy various activities and experiences.
In his speech at the information event, Simon Ammann also expressed his excitement about the Games in Zug. In his opinion, Zug will play an important role in advancing the topic of inclusion, also with a view to the 2029 Special Olympic World Games in Switzerland. Host Nik Hartmann is visibly moved by the broadening of his disabled son Melchior's horizons and hopes that in the future, the word "inclusion" will no longer be used, because it's simply normal. Zug's athletes are also already looking forward to the Games and, above all, to participating in this unique spectacle. The information session was the perfect kickoff for the upcoming event.
