Handball was accepted as an official sport by Special Olympics in December 2022, after having already participated in a demonstration tournament at the National Games in St. Gallen. The goal is to develop the sport together with Swiss Handball as part of the "Together League." For the first time, a regular handball tournament will be organized in Zug, and for the first time, a team will be sent to the 2027 World Games.
